Using other funny maid of honor speeches as examples is something that I didn’t make use of until the last minute unfortunately.  If you find yourself in the same situation, I would definitely recommend these as a great way of avoiding writeres block and ensuring that you get everything prepared perfecting for the big day.

Find Examples, But Still Be Unique

One of the great thing about many of the funny maid of honor speeches available, is that they are set up to let you fill in the blanks so you can create a wedding speech that is still very unique to you.

They are show you sample setups and layout, and then prompt on a number of things you can say including:

  • Who you should be thanking,
  • The feelings associated with the big day,
  • Some great jokes and emotional quotes,
  • Ways to get the audience involved.

These are only a few of the elements I was able to find in wedding speech examples.  I had an idea about many of these things, however having them there in an ordered layout meant I couldn’t go wrong.  The examples of maid of honor speeches also helped me to stick to the point to keep the guest interested, and not bored!

If you’d like some great examples then I’d recommend browsing around the internet like I did. Making a speak completely unique and unforgettable in your own way becomes quite easy when you find one that suits you.

Your Maid Of Honor Toast – Don’t Say The Wrong Thing!

When it comes to keeping everyone happy, forgetting to thank someone is one thing for a groom or bride speech – but saying the wrong thing altogether in a maid of honor toast could be a complete disaster! I did my best to avoid this situation myself, so I wanted to show some great tips with you to help avoid an embarrassing situation.

Pleasing The Bride

Keep in mind that as a very close friend, one of the worst things you could do is upset the bride with something you say! So previous relationships is definitely a topic to avoid. Now that may seem obvious, but believe me there are women, and sometimes even grooms, that do it! Of course you should speak favourably of the bride at all times, and just make sure to keep your jokes in good taste for everyone in attendance (avoid sex, politics, or religion!). Remember, this is her most important day!

Alcohol

Now I’m sure you may well be more prepared for your speech than I was, but no matter how prepared you are your number one enemy may be alcohol. A few too many and this has the potential to bring just about anyone down, making them say the wrong thing. I may recommend one or two small drinks before the speech to take the edge off, but only if you’re used to having drinks, so keep yourself under control! I know I was glad I did!

A Few Other Tips

One thing that made the idea of maid of honor speeches stressful to me was the fact I didn’t plan ahead as much as I would have if I had to do it again. Take the time to practice your speech in front of a friend, and you’ll have a lot more control of what you say, and a lot less stress knowing you are prepared. Luckily there are now all sorts of sources of help online for those who want the perfect speech.

The last think I would like to mention is that no matter how well written your speech is, going on for too long is never a good idea. So keep that in mind as you prepare your speech, and work on it so it doesn’t take an hour to deliver!

Funny Maid of Honor Toast – How I Got Started

I knew immediately that when my best friend decided to get married I would be desperately seeking funny maid of honor speeches I could emulate, but I never realized how difficult it would be!  To tell the truth, I spent most of my time procrastinating before I realized I had to get down to it and actually write the thing.

My first advice would simply be: Don’t make the same mistake I did!  Plan ahead, don’t simply look for someone else’s speech to copy.

There is no doubt that when you first start thinking about wedding reception speeches it can seem like a really difficult task.  After all, there is the best man speech, bride/groom speech, that you may be worried about living up to… and standing up and making a speech is pretty nerve-wracking alone!

As the wedding approached I did my best to think of the most charming, witty, caring maid of honor speech and it just wasn’t coming to me.  What I eventually did is just take some time to write some of the thoughts and memories that came into my head on a small piece of paper I carried around with me.

There are probably better ways to come up with a maid of honor speech, but I figured this was a great way to start getting some ideas down on paper.

I will admit, it was quite difficult at first.  But when I started using speech guides and prompts I started writing down little pieces of information about myself and Stacey.  Things like where we met, how long we’ve known each other, our best memories, how Stacey met her husband – things like that.  It really helped pull things together for me.

I think that it is important at this stage not to worry about the order of the content, or any jokes you plan on including.  The biggest hurdle to getting the perfect wedding speech is actually sitting down to write it!  So simply by making notes on my thoughts I was already over the  hurtle for joining the ranks of the best funny maid of honor toasts!
